Generations ago, women carried dandelion seeds in their pockets all the way from Europe to America, because they couldn’t imagine living without this generous, important plant. Here we use the flowers to make this yellow, summer-in-a-tin salve. We find that dandelion flowers can help with pain, so here we use the salve for the pain of a stiff neck, arthritic joints, sinus headaches (external use only), back tension, and swollen skin sores. Friends use this gentle salve as part of self-care and beautifying rituals, for rough, tired, or chapped skin, windburn and sunburn, insect bites, and on scars and age spots. For some people, this flower promotes deep relaxation and facilitates release of emotions locked in muscles. Isn’t that amazing? This whole plant is a wonder! Read Healing Wise by Susan Weed to learn more about enchanting Dandelion. And as always, if your body doesn't like a salve, stop using it!
