Comfrey the comforting. I’ve learned from Susan Weed and Julie Charette Nunn that comfrey salve can help with minor cuts, burns, bruises, itchy skin, and many other skin problems. This summer we found ourselves agreeing with Susan Weed that it’s amazing for friction blisters when you over-use your hands and feet (for example, when raking and hoeing, walking/hiking, crabbing and fishing, rowing, and so on) and also when you foolishly wear new shoes without socks on a long hike--whoops). Use to stop friction blisters from forming when you first feel that a blister is going to happen or on a blister after it forms. And as always, if your body doesn't like a salve, stop using it!
