Scarves & Candles by guest artist Gina White

We thought it'd be fun to invite a local artist to join us as we launch. Gina White is the kind of down-to-earth, humble, jack-of-all-trades, flexible, and wise creator that we love most. She's a photographer who teaches in Seattle at PCNW and sometimes here on Whidbey at Silly Dog Studios with Daniel. She's an experienced soap maker who takes Lori's local plant- and herb-infused oils and turns them into nourishing shampoo bars, soaps, and dish soap bars. Lord knows Lori couldn't do it alone! Gina's also a fiber artist who weaves the most delightful scarves, hand towels, and kitchen towels. She also creates candles and bracelets for the holiday season. This year she made masks too. We also both grew Japanese indigo plants to learn and experiment with. She turned hers into a remarkable indigo powered dye. I gifted mine to friends, because I got too bogged down with life this fall to do anything with the plants I'd loved and tended all summer! Bottom line: Gina's amazing. And, like us, she's an artist who works for herself, a tiny business, and Covid made her in-person teaching impossible for much of this year. Please buy her beautiful things and watch this space for more Gina-created things as the weeks pass...
