Say It Sister lip balm

This lip softening and moisturizing and voice raising balm celebrates beloved women and femme folk the world over. The local plants within encourage and support us in speaking our experience, story, truth, heart, and mind. This feels especially true for those of us who experience grandmothers and great grandmothers and all femme ancestors as sources of deep connection to the land, to herstory/history, to self, and to wisdom. Some of the traditional uses of the plants for this purpose:

- Wild dandelion flowers - invite your inner child to be present and speak. theirs too, when possible. only you, when not. 
- Wild violets - in an atmosphere of trust, lived truth, honesty, humility and strength
- Garden calendula - move and speak confidently in powerful healing beauty, like the flowers do. if they cut you off, just come right back, there’s no end to you until you feel done 
- Wild and garden yarrow - with courage in the everyday and in battle
- Garden peppermint - be bold and remember that you are worthy and capable of creating change and getting people and things moving
- Wild self heal - be held by the green. this plant is especially soothing to the mouth and throat in all forms and is especially great if the speaking or yelling you need to do will be/is/was difficult for you

As with all new offerings, you should start slowly and make sure you/your family’s bodies like the plants in this balm. Discontinue use if your body isn’t happy. There is half a drop of castor oil per tin of lip balm to make it silky smooth and even more softening. In very high doses, castor oil can be used a laxative, so please don’t sit down and eat dozens of tins of lip balm. The balm is for your lips, not your belly. Please share this tip with children if you share the lip balm with them.

Ingredients: Whidbey-grown (and ethically gathered on trusted lands) wild self-heal (Prunella vulgaris), wild violets (Viola adunca), wild dandelion flowers (Taraxacum officinale), wild and garden yarrow (Achillea millefolium) and calendula (Calendula officinalis) and peppermint (Mentha piperita) from our garden infused into organic extra virgin olive oil, plus local beeswax (from Hive Harvest on the peninsula or Maya Farms here on Whidbey), Shea butter, and a half drop of organic castor oil per tin. No added color--the yellow-orange appearance of this balm comes from the calendula and dandelion flowers and local beeswax within.

Size and packaging: Lip balm is in a one-ounce reusable, food grade, round gold metal tin with a twist-off top. See our Packaging page for more details. The twist-off tops were chosen (instead of pull-straight-off tops) because if you accidentally forget them in your purse in a hot car, and the balm melts, the twist off tops help keep the balm in the container better.
